Ronald McDonald House holds annual charity golf tournament to benefit sick kids

The Ronald McDonald House Mid-Penn Chapter held its annual charity golf tournament Monday at Sinking Valley Country Club.

A total of 36 foursomes competed, with the real winners being the families who use the Ronald McDonald House.

Ronald McDonald Mid-Penn distributes several different grants each year to help with such things like RMH housing costs, playgrounds --anything to help a sick child and their families get their minds off of the illness for a while.

“Everything we do is all about the kids,” said board member Tim Cassidy. “We have the houses in Danville and Pittsburgh. You go to the hospital, you stay there for a very, very minimal cost. Usually we have someone speaking, but with COVID we didn’t want to do that. But usually we bring somebody in who has stayed at a house, and they give us their story, and it just brings people to tears.”

Golfers could participate in several other activities, such as a putting contest.
