DOS responds to Republican lawmakers' claim of election numbers discrepancy

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — A group of Republican lawmakers say they’ve performed an extensive analysis of election day data and they’ve found “troubling” discrepancies. According to State Rep. Frank Ryan (R-Lebanon), 17 lawmakers sponsored and participated in the analysis. Gettysburg not planning to host reenactment next year

A long-time Gettysburg summer tradition is no longer. The Gettysburg Anniversary Committee (GAC) announced they are not planning to host a 157th Civil War anniversary reenactment for 2020. "We are honored to have hosted over 100,000 reenactors, 500,000 visitors, and provided well over 1,000 community staff positions," said GAC in an announcement post on their Facebook page. National Guard troops called to Washington, D.C., ahead of convoy protests

New Jersey deployed 100 National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., Saturday ahead of potential trucker convoy protests set to take place the day of President Joe Biden's State of the Union address. The so-called "People's Convoy" is similar to protests seen in Canada in recent weeks. The Pentagon approved the deployment of 700 national guard troops from D.C., New Jersey, Vermont, and West Virginia. Ronald McDonald House holds annual charity golf tournament to benefit sick kids

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — The Ronald McDonald House Mid-Penn Chapter held its annual charity golf tournament Monday at Sinking Valley Country Club. A total of 36 foursomes competed, with the real winners being the families who use the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald Mid-Penn distributes several different grants each year to help with such things like RMH housing costs, playgrounds --anything to help a sick child and their families get their minds off of the illness for a while. Rural attorneys in Pennsylvania hope for reinforcements amid retirements and rising caseloads

Attorneys working in rural parts of the state say they have their work cut out for them. Vacant positions showing up for those who are retiring. Each attorney in select counties, sometimes dealing with dozens to even hundreds of active cases at any given time. They say they would like to see more positions in their areas be filled soon. Somerset County Acting District Attorney, Molly Metzgar, says this is just the active cases, and the cases on hold remain the submerged part of the iceberg. [Read More]

Bedford woman was intoxicated when she shot at family members & state police

UPDATE | Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Bedford County have released new details about what led to the arrest of a Bedford woman on Friday evening. Investigators say troopers were dispatched to a residence along Narrow Lane, in Cumberland Valley Township, for a report of a domestic disturbance. According to the affidavit, police say troopers later learned that 53-year-old Melissa Suder had been arguing with several family members and had even threatened to kill them. [Read More]

Coney Island closes temporarily for renovations

A popular Johnstown restaurant is closing Sunday, but not permanently.

According to its Facebook page, Coney Island lunch will be closing for renovations on Sunday and will reopen on Wednesday.
