SIDMAN -- Laurel Highlands Conference members voted unanimously Wednesday morning to eliminate Bishop Carroll High School's athletics teams from competition beginning in the 2018-2019 season.
Somerset High School Athletic Director Scott Close confirmed to WJAC-TV 6 Sports Wednesday night the 11-0 vote reflected the conference members concerns over the school's low roster numbers in football, and inability to field a junior varsity football team.

UPDATE |CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police in Clearfield County are providing new details on Saturday's deadly shooting in Morris Township as authorities say two people are now facing homicide charges in the case.
According to the affidavit, police say troopers were dispatched to a residence along Albert Lane late Saturday night for a reported fatal shooting.

Kalen DeBoer leaving University of Washington to replace Nick Saban as Alabama head coach
SEATTLE (KOMO) — University of Washington football coach Kalen DeBoer, who led the Huskies to the national championship game in his second season, told UW officials Friday he was leaving to replace Nick Saban at Alabama.
ESPN first reported that DeBoer was negotiating with Alabama on Friday. Tomahawks goalie commits to Boston University
JOHNSTOWN -- Another Johnstown Tomahawks player has committed to play college hockey. Goaltender Drew Hotte will play for one of the powerhouse programs, committing to Boston University Friday.
Hotte had a standout season for the Hawks, setting a team record for wins, going 24-12-1.
He was the team's first pick in the 2016 NAHL Draft.

Court approves sale of Appvion assets to lender group
ROARING SRPING, Pa. - Appvion Inc., which operates a paper and pulp mill in Blair County, has been approved by a U.S. bankruptcy court to sell all its assets by the end of May.
In a news release, the company said the group buying the assets, Franklin Advisers Inc, submitted a "stalking horse bid" in February for $340 million plus the assumption of substantial liabilities, including Appvion's contractual obligations.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A district court in Utah recommended the release of Ruby Franke, known for her '8 Passengers' YouTube channel, who was charged with six counts of second-degree felony child abuse, pending trial.
