Local man creates unique holiday train set to display during Bellefonte's annual Victorian Christmas

New name, new coat of paint for Johnstown bridge; PennDOT provides project update
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Johnstown Firefighters Memorial Bridge, formerly the Franklin Street Bridge, was unveiled Friday - showing off its fresh coat of red paint.
Construction began Monday to replace the expansion dams on the bridge, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said in a press release.
Drivers, PennDOT noted, should expect some possible “minor delays” due to a detour on Route 56. The $4.8 million project is expected to be completed by late November, depending on weather.

Logan Twp. receives funding to construct new sports park & soccer fields, officials say
Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — In Blair County, Logan Township officials are touting new funding that they say will help with the construction of multiple soccer fields.
Officials say they were recently awarded $853,000 in funding for the sports park.
The park will be located on a 100-acre piece of land located on the Juniata side of Altoona and the Homers Gap side of Logan Township.
Officials say the project will benefit the entire county and could bring big economic benefits to local hotels and restaurants.

Officials investigating deaths of at least 5 meerkats at Philadelphia Zoo
PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — The Philadelphia Zoo says at least five meerkats have died this month.
Zookeepers are looking into whether a dye used to mark the animals could be a factor, but the chief experience officer says it's been using that substance for 30 years on meerkats.
She says experts from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and U.S. Agriculture Department are helping to investigate.

Police still searching for suspect accused of stabbing man in Dale Borough
UPDATE | Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — Johnstown police say they are still searching for the suspect who is accused of stabbing another man in Dale Borough on Monday night.
Police say the victim reportedly suffered three stab wounds to the chest, abdomen and upper thigh.
Authorities say the victim identified his attacker as 37-year-old Qweon Grant, who reportedly has ties to the state of Georgia.
According to the affidavit, police say Grant is believed to be traveling with a woman.
